ServiceNow Tester

Overview

The ServiceNow Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, functionality, and performance of applications developed on the ServiceNow platform. The role involves planning, designing, executing, and automating test cases across multiple ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, IRM/GRC, HRSD, SecOps, and custom applications. The tester works closely with developers, business analysts, and architects to validate solutions against business requirements and platform best practices.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Test Planning & Strategy

  • Understand functional and technical requirements for various ServiceNow modules.
  • Develop test strategies, test plans, and test scenarios covering functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Identify and document test data requirements and setup.
    • Participate in requirement and design review sessions to ensure test coverage.

    Test Case Design & Execution

    • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases based on acceptance criteria.
    • Validate workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, integrations, and notifications.
    • Conduct end-to-end testing across ServiceNow modules and external system integrations.
    • Log, track, and manage defects using ServiceNow Agile module or other tools (e.g., JIRA).
    • Perform smoke, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT) support.

    Automation & Quality Assurance

    • Build and maintain automated test scripts using ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework).
      • Implement test automation best practices to ensure consistent and reusable testing processes.
      • Analyze test results and prepare quality assurance reports for stakeholders.
      • Collaborate with developers to ensure defect resolution and re-testing.

      Release & Deployment Support

      • Participate in release readiness reviews to ensure quality deliverables.
      • Validate post-deployment functionality in staging and production environments.
      • Support upgrade testing to ensure compatibility with new ServiceNow releases.

      Required Skills & Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
      • 3–6 years of experience in application testing, with at least 2 years focused on ServiceNow platform.
        • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow core modules (ITSM, IRM/GRC, SecOps, HRSD, Custom Apps).
        • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework).
        • Experience using Agile delivery tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow Agile module.
        • Ability to write detailed test cases, test scripts, and defect reports.
        • Understanding of ServiceNow data model, workflows, and integrations (REST/SOAP APIs).

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
        • Exposure to ServiceNow IRM/GRC or SecOps modules.
        • Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman, ReadyAPI) in addition to ATF.
        • Basic knowledge of JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting fundamentals.
          • Familiarity with CI/CD testing integration and DevOps pipelines.

          • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
          • Effective communication and teamwork.
          • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment and manage multiple priorities.
