Overview
OBJECTIVE:
- To provide technical leadership to a group of release engineers.
- Responsible for developing part designs and/or systems assuring that design rules are followed, and design practices are implemented, consistently across all components and systems within the organization.
- Additionally, support the Development Team in assessing and developing the technical know-how of the organization and support Fellows to develop/maintain technical policies.
Job Description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description
- Ensure FATC Control Panel, Climatic control unit and Manual Control Panel, Power Window Switches, Seat Switches, Sunroof Switches & all Auxiliary switches project being consistent with quality, performance, time, and costs objectives and being supported by specialized areas.
- Should have knowledge on Rain Sensor / In-car cabin sensor etc.
- Ensure Switches component / system project being consistent with quality, performance, time, and costs objectives and being supported by specialized areas.
- Thermal components (Evaporator, actuators, Blower motor) knowledge should have.
- RFQ Preparation as per Stellantis specifications & requirements.
- Ensure Cross functional team co-ordination on development and practices in a specific collaborative project with other regions.
- Homologation and Regulation compliance for all the FATC & Switch components.
- Responsible for the Engineering, Design, Development, Timing and Product release of all FATC and, Climatic control unit, Power Window Switches, Combi-Switches, Clock Spring, AC Control Switches, Hazard switch, Ajar Switches, Steering wheel Switch, Driver Switch bank, etc components. In General, All the Driver switches, Passenger Switches and Non-Ergonomic Switches.
- Other responsibilities will include managing supplier (internal/external) development activities, weight and cost reduction opportunities, development, and validation of assigned components.
- Leads system engineering for FATC, switches, and has experience with automotive switches development, vehicle level interface, and the latest automotive technology.
- Designs and develops electronic circuits for embedded systems, creates schematics and PCB layouts, and performs component selection and testing.
Work experience in development and delivery of mechanical, electrical or electronic systems for automotive applications.
System Engineering
Develop HVAC system architecture (Manual / FATC)
Define system requirements (cooling capacity, airflow, thermal comfort)
Prepare System Requirement Specification (SRS)
Interface with BCCM / BCM / CAN / LIN networks
Hardware Development
HVAC control panel (knob, rotary, capacitive, touch)
Integration of:
Blower motor control
Actuators (mode, blend, recirc)
Sunload sensor
In-car temperature sensor
Ambient temperature sensor
Humidity sensor (if applicable)
ADC input handling for temperature knobs
Illumination (white/amber/RGB backlight)
Task / Deliverables
- In the area of competence can be responsible for:
- Execution of robust, quality, cost and weight efficient designs that ensures successful launch while meeting program objectives.
- Lead standardization, re-use, harmonization, benchmarking, and lessons learned activities in his/her domain, ensuring the application of corporate technical best practices.
- Own and sign-off core technical documents and test plans in his/her domain, as well as technical descriptions for cost roll ups and Value optimization studies.
- Support the Development Team in innovation and implementation strategies, in identifying necessary resources across vehicle lines, in Supplier Capability Assessment Audits, and Methods/Processes/Tools strategies and implementations.
- Support Project Team with his/her technical know-how to develop technical solutions, supplier co-ordination, ensure part quality for builds, build process development, root-cause issues, verify best practices read across and technical integrity in case of changes
- Lead product diversity definition per KPI requirements along with Vehicle Program team, Product planning and Brand and Supplier
- Responsible for Source Package or RFQ development.
- Support Fellow(s) in developing and maintaining technical policies, roadmaps, and training material.
- Within his/her responsibilities he/she must guarantee the conformity to Internal Control System rules.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Project Team, Style, Interface Component Teams (Like Wiring Harness, Interiors, Body Team etc), EE- Architecture and Mech-Architecture Team, Purchase, Supplier Quality, Performance Validation team, Homologation team, Plant GA Team.
External: All Tier-1 Supplier, ARAI, Tier-2 Supplier and Test Laboratory (If required)
Performance INDICATORS (INDICATIVE):
To meet Key vehicle, launch milestone with Cost, Quality per given timeline
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Qualifications/Skills and Experience:
- Education: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech – E&TC Engineering / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical & Electronics engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in Driver switches, Passenger Switches and Non-Ergonomic Switches, etc related systems design and application. CAD design experience – UG NX / CATIA.
Essential Skills
- Strong development experience in Automotive FATC, Climatic control unit, Manual Control Panel, Switch components and should have knowledge on smart switches as well.
- Should have knowledge and work experience about FATC, Toggle Switches, Touch-Sensitive Switches, Capacitive Touch Switches Rotary/Slide Switches, Momentary Switches, Pressure-Sensitive Switches, Foot-Pedal Switches,
- Concept Design and Feasibility studies of Driver switches, Passenger Switches and Non-Ergonomic Switches.
- Understanding of vehicle EE Architecture & ECU Interaction.
- Leads system engineering for switches, and has experience with automotive switches development, vehicle level interface, and the latest automotive technology.
- Designs and develops electronic circuits for embedded systems, creates schematics and PCB layouts, and performs component selection and testing.
- Has knowledge of plastic and contact materials used for automotive FACT, switches and exposure to switches manufacturing.
- Ensures smooth execution of daily production and new projects, implements best practices for productivity improvement, and streamlines processes.
- Should conduct technical reviews with supplier and sort out development related issues.
- Coordinate with CFT teams like EE, BIW, Vehicle Packaging, Testing & Design studio, Vehicle integration to sort out milestone issues.
- Experience in UG NX / CATIA in a production release environment.
- Experience in Team Centre / PLM
- Must have knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems and interface to vehicle electrical systems.
- Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus and experience with circuit analysis and hardware interface. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) using proactive quality tools and Experience with Reactive Problem Solving tools.
