Overview

The L3 Systems & Server Engineer is the highest technical authority for our enterprise compute, identity, storage, virtualization, and backup platforms. This role is responsible for architecting, administering, and ensuring the high availability of our on-premises and hybrid cloud server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will drive major data center transformations, handle deep server operating system troubleshooting, manage core Active Directory/Identity architectures, implement enterprise disaster recovery solutions, and guarantee zero data loss across production and plant environments.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Server Administration: Architect, configure, and administer Windows Server (2016 through to 2025) and Linux enterprise environments. Manage the hardware lifecycle of blade chassis, rack servers, and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).
• Identity & Access Governance: Design and maintain Active Directory (AD) domains, Group Policies (GPOs), Active Directory Certificate Services (PKI), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Single Sign-On (SSO), and identity life cycles.
• Virtualization & Storage Orchestration: Design, scale, and optimize enterprise virtualization clusters (VMware vSphere/vCenter or Microsoft Hyper-V). Administer enterprise SAN/NAS storage arrays, fiber channel switches, and capacity forecasting.
• Data Protection & Disaster Recovery: Architect and oversee the enterprise backup strategy (Veeam, Backup Exec, etc.). Regularly design, test, and execute full Disaster Recovery (DR) and business continuity drills for critical databases and plant operational applications.
• L3 Systems Escalation & Automation: Resolve complex, escalated server OS crashes, directory corruption issues, virtualization freezes, and storage latency anomalies. Leverage PowerShell or Bash scripting to automate routine deployment and patching pipelines.
• Patch & Vulnerability Management: Enforce strict infrastructure compliance through centralized patch management systems. Remediate vulnerabilities identified by security audits on all servers without disrupting operations.
• Manufacturing Application Support: Coordinate with plant floor, QC, and R&D stakeholders to deploy and support server-side applications, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and laboratory database configurations.

Technical Skills Required

• Server OS: Expert Windows Server Administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP clusters, GPO, RADIUS) and strong Linux Server (RHEL/Ubuntu) competencies.
• Virtualization: Advanced administration of VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi clusters, vMotion, High Availability/DRS).
• Storage & Backups: Deep understanding of SAN/NAS architectures (iSCSI, Fibre Channel) and enterprise backup suites (Veeam Backup & Replication).
• Automation: Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting for systems infrastructure automation.

Qualifications & Preferred Certifications

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech / BCA / MCA / B.Sc. IT.
• Certifications (Preferred): MCSA, MCSE
