Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Linux Server Administrator to join our Data Center Operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux server administration, virtualization technologies (especially Proxmox VE), networking, troubleshooting, security, and infrastructure maintenance. This role involves managing server environments, ensuring high availability, and supporting critical business services.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and optimize Linux servers.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, access controls, and security policies.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization environments using Proxmox VE.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization.
- Perform regular backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery operations.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network services and connectivity issues.
- Integrate and maintain CDN and DNS services to ensure efficient content delivery.
- Conduct hardware diagnostics and coordinate with onsite teams for server maintenance, upgrades, and component replacements.
- Implement server hardening, patch management, and security best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Troubleshoot system, network, virtualization, and application-related issues.
- Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
Linux Administration
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers.
- Strong understanding of Linux file systems, user management, services, and package management.
- Experience with shell scripting and system automation is an advantage.
Virtualization & Hosting
- Working knowledge of Proxmox VE.
- Experience creating and managing virtual machines and containers.
- Understanding of storage management and virtualization best practices.
Networking Fundamentals
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, routing, and firewall concepts.
- Experience configuring and managing DHCP services.
- Understanding of PXE (Preboot Execution Environment) for network-based operating system deployment and provisioning.
- Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity and service-related issues.
- Familiarity with CDN integration and DNS-level traffic management.
Troubleshooting & System Maintenance
- Experience identifying and resolving server, hardware, and network issues.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and system health checks.
Monitoring & Security
- Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools.
- Knowledge of server hardening, vulnerability management, and security best practices.
- Understanding of access control, authentication, and log management.
Additional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with CDN services, DNS management, and data center operations is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant Linux, Networking, or Virtualization certifications are a plus.
- 1–3 years of experience in Linux system administration, virtualization, or data center operations.
