Overview
The Senior POS Systems Engineer owns the end-to-end stability, integration, and evolution of modern POS platforms across retail environments. Provides technical leadership for POS–SAP integrations, Control-M batch orchestration, and production reliability. Partners closely with QA, SAP, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure high availability, data integrity, and scalable retail operations.
Job Description
Duties to be Performed
- Act as technical lead for POS platforms and integrations across regions.
- Own architecture decisions, standards, and best practices for POS integrations.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis (RCA), and long-term remediation plans.
- Oversee modern cloud-based POS systems and store rollouts.
- Ensure accurate handling of sales, returns, exchanges, tax, tender, loyalty, and promotions.
- Drive improvements in POS performance, resiliency, and monitoring.
- Lead real-time and batch integrations between POS, SAP (ECC / S/4HANA), and downstream systems.
- Partner with SAP teams on IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and financial posting accuracy.
- Ensure reconciliation and data consistency across POS → SAP → Finance.
- Own Control-M job design, scheduling, dependencies, and recovery strategies.
- Oversee monitoring, failure handling, and controlled re-runs for critical retail jobs.
- Reduce manual intervention through automation and proactive alerting.
- Provide L3 support for complex POS and integration issues.
- Participate in on-call leadership for major incidents.
- Define and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational KPIs.
- Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-team problem solving.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, vendors, and business partners on releases and rollouts.
- Support planning for upgrades, new features, and platform modernization.
