Seeking an experienced GCP Platform Architect to lead cloud architecture, FinOps strategy, infrastructure automation, and governance initiatives. The role involves designing scalable GCP solutions, implementing Terraform-based IaC standards, optimizing cloud costs, enabling zero-touch provisioning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence and platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Own GCP platform architecture for cost optimization, workload optimization, and platform automation.
Define FinOps strategy including tagging taxonomy, budget governance, showback/chargeback, CUD/SUD planning, and cost allocation.
Establish Terraform/IaC standards including reusable modules, remote state, naming conventions, project templates, and policy-as-code.
Define zero-touch provisioning architecture using ServiceNow, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, approval workflows, and reusable infra templates.
Review and govern cost optimization initiatives such as idle resource cleanup, right-sizing, Spot VM usage, storage lifecycle, and BigQuery optimization.
Partner with Finance, Security, SRE, Application, DevOps, and ITSM teams for architecture alignment and execution.
Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, design governance, and mentoring to cloud/platform engineers.
Own HLDs, LLDs, ADRs, reference architectures, standards, implementation roadmap, and operational documentation.
Skills:
Experience in cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
Strong GCP architecture knowledge across Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, VPC, Private
Service Connect, Cloud SQL, Memorystore, GCS, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Build, and Artifact Registry.
Deep understanding of GCP billing, billing export to BigQuery, labels/tags, CUDs/SUDs, budgets, cost allocation, and slot management.
Strong Terraform experience including module design, remote state, workspaces, reusable patterns, Terragrunt, and policy-as-code.
Good understanding of ServiceNow-driven provisioning, REST integrations, approval workflows, and ITSM processes.
Strong CI/CD knowledge using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of cloud governance, FinOps, security guardrails, reliability, and operational standards.
Good scripting knowledge using Python, Go, or Shell.
Strong stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification.
GCP Professional DevOps Engineer or Security Engineer certification.
FinOps Practitioner certification.
Exposure to AWS/Azure.
